Who are the Green Dragon Friends (GDF)?
The GDF is made up of a group of friendly and proactive parents, who work together to raise valuable funds for our school. Every parent is welcome to join the GDF.
What do the GDF do?
We would welcome volunteers to join the Committee of the Green Dragon Friends (GDF) PTA group. We are a group of parent/carer and teacher volunteers involved in the organising of fundraising events in school including Fairs, school disco, bake sales, Pop-Up stalls and Mufti Days. All the proceeds go back into school for the benefit of the children. These have included workshops, contributions to trips, playground equipment, etc.
What do the GDF spend money on?
Here are a few things the GDF have funded in the last few years:
Leavers gifts for every Year 6 child
Revamping and restocking the school library
Playground equipment …and much more!
How can you get involved?
Would you like to help us to raise increasingly important funds for our children?
Are you able to help at events or help set up beforehand?
Are you good with ICT and would like to help us with advertising our events?
Do you have links with any organisations that may be able to help with donations?
There are many different ways you can help! Whether it be 5 minutes or 5 hours. ANY help is really appreciated!

Committee roles as follows:
Chair
Providing leadership and guidance to all members of the GDF group. Instrumental in the planning and organising of events.
Secretary
Overseeing the calendar of events and ensuring these are communicated to the Head teacher. Taking and circulating minutes from all GDF meetings.
Treasurer
In charge of the money side of the GDF. In conjunction with the Headteacher/ Deputy Head and core GDF team is responsible for setting budgets for income and expenditure in the academic year and reviewing forecasts every quarter. Reviewing/ communicating profit from all GDF events. Providing floats for events and banking all monies.
Marketing & Communications
Responsibility for advertising forthcoming events. Creating and putting up posters. Ensuring the GDF noticeboard is updated. Providing a weekly roundup for inclusion in the school newsletter.
Events
Organising of events and managing a sub-committee of volunteers relevant to each event (Fairs, Disco, Cake Sales, Pop-Ups). Their job is to oversee volunteers and make sure the event runs smoothly.
Fundraising & Donations
Building relationships with local businesses and wider community to encourage donations to be used for raffles and silent auctions. Looking for sponsorship for key events eg: Fairs- advertising boards. The organisation of Mufti Days and external fundraisers.
Personnel & Recruitment
Actively recruiting new members and volunteers for GDF to ensure that we have enough people to run events and fundraisers. Arranging coffee morning socials each half term with updates on upcoming and past GDF activities.
Green Dragon Friends PTA. can only continue if there are sufficient volunteers to help with the organising and running of events. And the old adage of many hands make light work is so true. Being a volunteer is rewarding and should also be fun.
